The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has issued a facility permit for Routhier to operate a state-of-the-art tire recycling facility at an 18-acre site located in Ayer, Massachusetts. The Routhier facility is the only permitted facility of its kind in the New England region. This DEP permit was issued in accordance with the procedures

and regulations set forth in 310 CMR 16.00 and 310 CMR 19.000. Both the town of Ayer and the DEP were involved in an extensive application review and approval process. In addition, Routhier has received several Beneficial Use Determinations (BUDs) for approval for specific uses of recycled tire products. See the section on Tire Derived Products.
